Attention is a cognitive resource that needs to be allocated in a way that allows people to get the most out of their time. When we are trying to focus on something, our attention is divided between what we are focusing on and what is around us.
There are three types of Attention: Divided, Focused, and Multi-Tasked.
Divided Attention involves dividing our attention between two or more items. For example, you might be reading this blog post and listening to music at the same time.
Focused Attention involves focusing on one task and ignoring everything else. For example, you could be playing a video game and not paying attention to anything else around you.
Multi-Tasked Attention involves doing two or more different tasks at the same time. For example, you could be talking on the phone and driving at the same time.
