What is BDD?
Body Dysmorphic Disorder (BDD) is a mental disorder that causes people to have a strong, persistent fear of their appearance.
BDD is characterized by the following four symptoms:
1. A persistent and intense fear of having a particular body part or feature that is considered ugly or wrong.
2. The fear is not based on actual observations or experiences, but rather on assumptions or imaginations.
3. The person has difficulty concentrating or maintaining focus on tasks because of the fear.
4. The person has recurrent thoughts about the appearance of their body part or features.
BDD can be difficult to diagnose because it often goes undiagnosed and untreated. That’s why it’s important for people who are worried about their appearance to get help from a doctor or therapist.
