What is CPCTC?
Corresponding Parts of Congruent Triangles are Congruent(CPCTC) when the following three conditions are met:
1. The length of the side opposite to the right angle is same as the length of the hypotenuse.
2. The angles opposite to the right angle are same.
3. The triangle is a right triangle.
When these three conditions are met, then the corresponding parts of the triangles are said to be congruent. In other words, they have the same shape and size.
There are many types of triangles, but right triangles are the most common. When two sides of a right triangle are equal, then the triangle is called isosceles or equilateral. When one side of a right triangle is more than twice as long as another side, then the triangle is called an asymmetric or unbalanced triangle.
When three conditions are met, then any two corresponding parts of a Triangle are said to be congruent (CPCTC). This means that their shapes and sizes are exactly the same.
