What is DEA?
The Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) is a federal law enforcement agency that focuses on drug trafficking and drug abuse. The DEA was created in 1970 as a response to the increasing number of drugs being trafficked into the United States. The DEA is responsible for enforcing drug laws throughout the United States.
The DEA has several divisions that work together to combat drug trafficking and drug abuse. These divisions include the Drug Enforcement Administration, Homeland Security Investigations, and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives.
The Drug Enforcement Administration is led by an Administrator who is appointed by the President of the United States. The Administrator reports to the Secretary of Justice. The DEA employs over 10,000 agents who are located throughout the United States.
