What is DSN?
DSN is a unique name given to the identifying information of a data source. It is used to reference the data source in a request or in a report.
DSN is typically short and easy to remember, and it is usually composed of the name of the data source followed by a forward slash (/) and the name of the database. For example, the DSN for the Microsoft SQL Server database would be msdb/dbo.
DSN can also be used as part of a query string when you are using an API. For example, if you wanted to retrieve all tables from the Microsoft SQL Server database, you could use the following query:
SELECT * FROM msdb.dbo.tables
DSN can also be used when you are creating reports or exporting data from your database. For example, if you want to export all data from the Microsoft SQL Server database into a CSV file, you could use the following command:
EXPORT MSDBDBOTBLES AS CSV
