What is TCP?

TCP is a networking protocol that is used to coordinate the sending and receiving of data over a network. TCP provides reliable delivery of data packets between computers.

TCP uses a three-way handshake to establish a connection between two computers. The first step in the handshake is the SYN packet, which is sent from the sender to the receiver. The SYN packet contains information about the sender’s TCP port number and the size of the data that the sender wants to send.

The second step in the handshake is the SYN+ACK packet. The SYN+ACK packet is sent from the receiver to the sender and it acknowledges receipt of the SYN packet. The ACK packet also contains information about the receiver’s TCP port number and the size of the data that has been received so far.

The third step in the handshake is the ACK packet. The ACK packet acknowledges receipt of both the SYN+ACK packets and it also confirms that both computers are ready to begin sending data.
